A new Pew Research Center study found that 60% of U.S. adults now read AI-generated summaries at the top of their search results. AI search has already arrived.
That changes something simple but important for any business with a website. People used to find you mostly through Google links. Now an AI system often reads your site first, summarizes it, and decides what to tell the searcher about you.
So the question is no longer just whether people can find your site. It is whether AI can understand it well enough to describe your business correctly.
What this means for your site
If your website is vague, outdated, or full of jargon, AI tools can misread it or skip it. If it is clear, specific, and easy to follow, you have a much better chance of showing up the way you want to.
A few things make the biggest difference:
- Say exactly what you do and who you help, in plain language
- Answer the questions your customers actually ask
- Keep your content current, so it reflects your business today
- Back up your claims with real proof like reviews, case studies, and credentials
None of this is about tricking AI. It is the same thing that makes a site work better for people. Clear pages help humans and AI at the same time.
